The staff includes Jeff Cohen, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, as well as the following graduates of the four-year training program, consisting of the study of the theory and clinical practice of IFT, along with supervision, and are all Certified as either Integrated Feeling Therapists or Integrated Life Coaches. Life coaches cannot treat or diagnose mental illness or disorders, but are trained to help you improve self-confidence, self-awareness, problem-solving skills, social skills, work/life balance, productivity and creativity. Both life coaches and therapists are fully trained in the core theory of Integrated Feeling, which is learning how to love and be loved.
Melissa Allen holds a B.A. degree from Bard College in Cultural Anthropology and Gender Studies; a Masters in Social Work from the Univ. at Albany; and is a Certified Social Worker. Melissa studied transpersonal psychology and is a certified Spiritual Counselor and ordained Non-denominational Minister through the Assoc. for the Integration of the Whole Person. She is Clinical Director of the Catskill Mountain Counseling Ctr. Melissa utilizes the transformative power and strength of feminine empathic energy to convey love and support the healing process of each individual. She practices in Upstate New York at the Integrated Feeling Therapy Center of New Paltz.
Valerie Bell, M.A., is originally from Hanover, New Hampshire, and holds a B.A. from Bennington College, and a M.A. from The New School for Social Research. An accomplished actress and singer, Valerie has performed in theater and on television. She has taught college for more than 20 years, focusing on the education of disadvantaged inner city students. Her work as an Integrated Life Coach is the synthesis of all her training, education and experience, in which she supports her clients to find the keys to empower them to live authentic, fully actualized lives. It aligns with her spiritual values: honoring the uniqueness of all living things, while honoring our oneness with the universe.
John Kaplan, M.A., graduated from the Mental Health Counseling program at Brooklyn College. He completed four years of training in Integrated Feeling Therapy, which included theory, technique, and supervision. He also completed four years of training at the Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy (GAP). John is also an accomplished playwright and has had many of his plays performed around the New York area.
Jill Morris, Ph.D., is passionate in her pursuit of knowledge in the fields of dreams and psychotherapy. She first wrote for women's magazines, but upon visualizing the figures in a Leger painting in motion, began to paint. She became a psychoanalyst, and has taught courses on dreams and creativity at Cooper Union and NYU, written three books (The Dream Workbook, Creative Breakthroughs, and Transformational Dreaming) and many articles in professional journals. She has run many workshops, spoken at many prestigious conferences, and appeared on numerous well-known TV and radio shows. Her creative fulfillment is found through the combination of her private practice, painting and writing.
Michael O'Brien has been in private practice in New York City for 15 years. He is a NYS Licensed Psychotherapist. He was also trained in classical Reichian therapy for three years by the psychiatrist, Bernard Rosenblum; and in Gestalt therapy through a four-year training program, including three years in the teaching clinic, at Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy (GAP). Michael also brings an interest and background in spirituality, including ACIM and 12-step experience, to his work. He is recently married, and is an "honorary" uncle to Jeff Cohen's three children.
